What do you get when you put together a bunch of kick ass muralists in a nice new shopping center building in Santa Monica? Well you get a hell of a good time. I was so honored to be included amongst so many sick artists,. I felt very humbled.

I can’t really remember if there was a theme or not, but I was given a chance to really do whatever I wanted. The canvas being vertical made be think a bird could be cool.

At the time I had a rough sketch and I was gathering some inspiration for the wall. AI was just starting to become a new tool to mess with at the time, so I was thinking if I could turn the sketch into like a biomech kind of style bird. I was playing with the idea of “birds aren’t even real” meme.

I thought it was sort of ironic to play on the idea of a mechanical bird, blending the idea of a tropical parrot like thing with anime mech style.

I shared below the sketch and some AI iterations. Ultimately I didn’t use them directly but instead did my own version. I usually freestyle most of my ideas on the wall. It is way more fun that way. And I also spent a lot of time walking around and checking out everyone else’s work too. Tons of fun!
